Butter Murukku Recipe: How To Make Butter Murukku
Butter murukku is a traditional spiral-shaped snack from Tamil Nadu cuisine. Butter (of course) and other spices are used to flavour it. Start by adding three tablespoons of roasted chana dal to a blender container. Blend until the mixture is finely powdered. Place aside.
Pour rice flour, roasted chana dal powder, soft butter, besan, cumin seeds, a pinch of heeng, and salt to taste into a mixing bowl. Mix until the butter is completely incorporated. Check that the dough is not cracked or sticky.
Now, take the murukku mould, grease it with oil and fill it with the dough. Press the dough and deep fry all the murukkus. It's done. Instead of deep-frying the murukku, you can also bake them for a healthier alternative. For more such South Indian snacks, click here for some of our best recipes.
